Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan, home of the Golden Knights. Although our students reside in four different towns; Harrington Park, Northvale, Norwood, and Old Tappan, once they arrive here they are treated as one. As our student population increases it is important to communicate the needs of our students and parents so that they learn to adjust to the stressors in their everyday lives. We offer multiple opportunities for students, and parents to learn together, and to take part in numerous events throughout the year. I urge you to access our other sites on this Home Page and our Student Handbook to learn what Northern Valley has to offer.
Opportunity is our number one goal for all students. Whether their interests are centered on academics, athletics, or the arts, Northern Valley allows students the opportunity to be active in all areas. It offers students the chance to grow and participate with friends and family. We have over fifty clubs and activities to join and offer twenty-seven Varsity, Junior Varsity, or Freshman sports. Our music department presents truly professional musical performances every season throughout the school year. Over eighty percent of our students participate in co-curricular activities. Student success in all areas helps rank us as one of the best schools in New Jersey.
The most notable change this year is the implementation of the new state Anti-Bullying program. We are confident that when we know about something like bullying we will be responsive to it to the best of our abilities. We assure you that our administrators and our newly appointed Anti-Bulling Specialists will exceed the guidelines established by the state. We look forward to parental support in these matters as well.
Our guidance counselors and a talented and dedicated faculty are always doing their best to communicate with you and your child while at Northern Valley. We anticipate our parent support by their attendance at school events and by joining many of our parent groups active in our school community. Northern Valley continues to be a gathering place for students and parents with diverse interests. Communication will keep us working together so that our children can experience success one step at a time. Together we can maintain the high standards that define what Northern Valley is all about.
